TOO MANY SENSORY EVENTS

It is possible that you find yourself immersed in an ocean of sensory experiences where your awareness is pulled in many directions at the same time or your awareness is jumping around from one sensory event to another. In either case, you don’t need to notice or label all of the sensory events that are happening.

You can let many sensory events go unnoticed as you pay attention to one of them at a time. The goal of this practice is not to notice everything in your awareness but what or where your attention is mainly drawn to in the present moment.

When your attention is actually pulled in a few places at the same time, just pick one sensory experience. It doesn’t matter which one. You can anchor yourself in noting and labelling one sensory experience at the time to steady yourself. It’s OK to let go of some of the sensory events. It’s also OK to miss some experiences.
